Management Structure

The council has a total employed staff of 19, consisting of both full time and part time positions. The Town Clerk manages the Town Council’s day to day business, as well as managing the staff.


The Town Clerk is the Proper Officer of the Town Council and has overall responsibility for council services.

Management of some individual services are devolved to members of the management team.  The management structure enables the Town Clerk to concentrate on strategic planning, corporate management, democratic representation, policy and procedure.


The Deputy Town Clerk line manages administration staff and outdoor personnel.  Her responsibilities include:  Budget and Finance Administration, Parks & Play Areas; Open Spaces; Personnel; Grants & Donations; Cemeteries; Allotments; Youth Services.

The Deputy Town Clerk acts in the role of Proper Officer in the absence of the Town Clerk.


The Community Development Officer line manages Information Centre staff and CCTV volunteers.  His responsibilities include:  CCTV; Visitor & Community Information Centre; Events & Carnivals; Town Centre Management; Newsletter & Websites; Information Technology; Town Hall; Markets; Community Development & Community Planning.
