Councillor Trotman was elected to Calne Town Council in 1989 and is currently serving on the Policy & Resources and Amenities Committees.

Councillor Trotman is also an elected member for North Wiltshire District Council and Wiltshire County Council.

His local government work began when he was elected as Parish Councillor for Calne Without Parish, where he served until 2002.

Cllr Trotman was elected Town Mayor for the municipal years 1992/93 and 2003/04.

Cllr Trotman’s local community commitment does not end with his local council work.  He has worked on many committees for local organisations and has been chairman of the Calne & District Twinning Association, Calne Heritage Centre Trust, Managing Body of White Horse Leisure Centre, and Devizes & District Motor Club. He is also President of Calne Silver Band.

Cllr Trotman has a keen leisure interest in motor sports.  He has previously held a national and international rally drivers licence and competed in many rallies in both Great Britain, Eire and France.
