| Description of Service |
| Environmental Health deals with some housing problems which may have influence on public health at a local level. These include nuisances caused by drains, rubbish and bonfires. The Council can demand owners fumigate houses infested by cockroaches, mice, rats, bedbugs and other pests. It has enforcement powers to ensure the work is carried out. It can remedy houses infected by vermin. NWDC also ffers help and assistance to improve housing conditions in the district. It works with residents to achieve this by judicious use of its statutory powers and providing means tested discretionary grants to owner occupiers, tenants and landlords. |
