Street Trading Licensing

Street Trading Licensing

In certain areas of North Wiltshire it is illegal to trade from a stall in the street or on any land to which the public has access, including car parks, forecourts and similar areas without first obtaining a Street Trading consent from North Wiltshire District Council.

The controlled areas are the in the centres of :-

Chippenham
Calne
Corsham
Wootton Bassett
Cricklade
Lyneham

You do not need a street trading consent if you are operating as part of a market or if you are selling outside of your own shop, café or public house. Hawkers (people who move about whilst selling rather than operating from a fixed stall) do not need Street Trading Consents, even in a Consent Street Area, but must be registered with the Police.

You do not need a street trading consent in areas which are not covered by Consent Street Orders, but wherever you trade you will need the consent of the landowner and you may need Planning Consent.
