Community Planning

In 2000 the government placed a responsibility on local authorities to find ways to work closely with communities in order to improve the social, economic and environmental well being of local people who live, work or visit their area.

North Wiltshire District Council and Wiltshire County Council are working in partnership with representatives from the statutory agencies, local businesses, community and voluntary groups to develop Community Plans. These plans will encompass the needs and aspirations for each of the five community areas within North Wiltshire.

Information used to develop the Community Plans has been drawn from a range of sources and events. Consulation is a continuous process and the Plans will not be set in stone, but will be constantly evolving documents to ensure that they remain relevant for local people.

Each Community Plan has its roots in The Community Strategy for North Wiltshire. This strategic document was created by the North Wiltshire Partnership. Find out more.
