Calne Community Area Plan

The Community Plan for Calne

The Calne Community Area Partnership is formed from local people and representatives of public, voluntary and private organisations who have come together to develop an action plan to improve the lives of people who live and work in the parishes of Calne, Bremhill, Hilmarton, Compton Bassett, Cherhill, Heddington and Calne Without.

In 2004, after a lengthy period of consultation with local people, the Partnership published The Calne Community Area Plan. This highlights target issues, visions and milestones around 8 main themes:
  • Economy
  • Education and Lifelong Learning
  • Crime and Community Safety
  • Environment
  • Transport
  • Social Care/Health
  • Housing and the Built Environment
  • Culture (including leisure, recreation and the arts)

The Partnership aims to regularly review and assess its progress in order to guide its future development and to keep the whole community informed.

In the 2nd half of 2005, as part of this process and also to celebrate achievements so far, the Partnership worked with young people from John Bentley School to produce an update to the original 2004 Plan.
