The Young People's Council Residential 27-29th May 2005
Braeside, Devizes
16 representatives from The Young People’s Council went away for the weekend to work together on the following areas:
- To develop terms of reference for group.
- Skills development – representing others.
- Skills development – community development.
- Development of long term lobbying themes.
The weekend was an exciting mixture of learning, personal development, team building and fun!
Other activities included:
- Braeside’s rope course.
- Drama.
- Visual Arts.
- Volleyball.
- Basketball.
- Football.
- A trip to the cinema.
- Movies and games.
The next meeting, scheduled for 29th June, will consolidate the work from the weekend in particular the running of the Young People’s Council.
Some of the visions for the purpose of the Young Peoples Council included:
- Fight for the rights of young people.
- Represent the rights for young people.
- Change things for all young people in our community.
- We at the YPC will aim to have the responsibilities of fighting for the rights of young people and representing their views. We also have the chance to change things for all young people in our community.
- To fairly represent and protect all young people’s views and opinions.
