Defining Anti Social Behaviour
The Crime and Disorder Act defines Anti Social Behaviour as:
"Behaviour that causes or is likely to cause alarm, distress or harassment to one or more people not in the same household as the defendant, and is of a persistant and serious nature."
Examples are:
- harassment of residents or passers-by
- domestic violence
- verbal abuse
- criminal damage
- vandalism
- noise nuisance
- writing graffiti
- engaging on threatening behaviour in large groups
- racial abuse
- smoking or drinking alcohol while under age
- substance misuse
- joyriding
- begging
- prostitution
- kerb-crawling
- throwing missiles
- assault
- vehicle crime
