Defining Anti Social Behaviour

The Crime and Disorder Act defines Anti Social Behaviour as:

"Behaviour that causes or is likely to cause alarm, distress or harassment to one or more people not in the same household as the defendant, and is of a persistant and serious nature."

Examples are:
  • harassment of residents or passers-by
  • domestic violence
  • verbal abuse
  • criminal damage
  • vandalism
  • noise nuisance
  • writing graffiti
  • engaging on threatening behaviour in large groups
  • racial abuse
  • smoking or drinking alcohol while under age
  • substance misuse
  • joyriding
  • begging
  • prostitution
  • kerb-crawling
  • throwing missiles
  • assault
  • vehicle crime
