Disability Equality Scheme

North Wiltshire District Council’s Disability Equality Scheme forms an integral part of the Council’s Corporate Equality & Diversity Policy.

The Council has adopted the Equality Standard for Local Government as its framework for mainstreaming equality throughout the organisation and Equalities & Diversity is one of the Council’s Corporate Priorities.  A lead member of the Executive has the portfolio for Equality & Diversity and a member of the Corporate Management Board takes the officer lead.  The Disability Equality Scheme is part of a number of 3 year equality schemes and contributes towards the Council’s commitment to equality for all people throughout North Wiltshire as stated in the Council’s Corporate Equality & Diversity Policy.

The Council is committed to ensuring disability equality in its service provision and delivery and in its responsibility as an employer. This Disability Equality Scheme and the 3 year action plan sets out how the Council intends to reinforce this commitment.

The Council intends to eliminate discrimination and actively promote disability equality in North Wiltshire.
