Payment Information
Please allow sufficient time for your payments to arrive in the Council's accounts on, or before, the due dates shown. Any payment which is not equal to, or a multiple of, an instalment will be allocated to the oldest debt.
Payment can be made by:
- 10 monthly instalments (1st April to 1st January)
- 2 half-yearly instalments (1st June and 1st October) (no prompter will be issued in September)
- 1 yearly instalment (1st June)
- The number of instalments given will reduce, if you receive your bill during the financial year.
By Direct Debit
Direct Debits are claimed on the 1st of the month. If you have already agreed to pay by Direct Debit, the instalments will automatically be requested from your Bank or Building Society on the dates shown on the bill.
You need do nothing further. If you wish to change to Direct Debit an Instruction can be obtained from the Revenues Unit at our Monkton Park offices or downloaded.

By Standing Order
If you wish to use this method of payment, please obtain a form from your bankers and complete it using your reference number and the Council's bank details as shown below:

At the Post Office
- Payments may be made by cash or cheque at any Post Office in the country. The service is free to users, however, the Post Office will accept payments only when accompanied by a Council Payment Card.
- If you do not have a Payment Card please email customerservices@northwilts.gov.uk well before your first payment date.
Direct to the Council (In person or by post)
All payments should be sent to the Chief Cashier, Customer Services, Monkton Park, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN15 1ER. Cheques should be made payable to North Wiltshire District Council. Please write your reference number on the back of the cheque.
The Cashier opening hours are: 9.00 am - 5.00 pm Monday to Thursday, 9.00 am - 4.30 pm Friday.
Help with your Council Tax Bill
If you have difficulty meeting your Council Tax bill you may be entitled to Council Tax Benefit. The amount of benefit depends on your income and household circumstances.
