Performance Management

The Council has embarked on a three-year programme implementing business planning.  The business plans set out the role each Business Area and each team within each Business Area has in delivering the Council’s priorities and the day to day service delivery. Business Planning allows us to focus on what we can achieve with current resources and to identify the priorities, improvements and future plans.

The aim by the end of the third year is to reach a point where the business planning process takes account of the needs and aspirations of the community, the political direction of the Council and the resources available. The plans will set out clearly defined and achievable objectives and action plans for every member of staff, team and business area.

Delivering the Corporate Plan

To ensure the delivery of the priorities, a Lead Member and Officer is accountable for progress and delivery of the all the action plans set out against each priority area.

The Plan is reviewed monthly as part of the performance management review at CMB with actions agreed as part of the monthly performance review being cascaded to all members and staff.

The Plan is reported quarterly to the Executive and the Overview and Scrutiny Committee.  The timetable for reporting to Executive parallels with the budget process to ensure that the Corporate Plan drives budget and resource allocation year on year.

The Corporate Plan is an evolving document and as such the action plans for each of the Priority areas will change.
