Local Code of Corporate Governance
The Council is required to adopt a Local Code of Corporate Governance as part of the Government's modernisation agenda for local authorities.
Corporate Governance is defined as the system by which local authorities direct and control their functions and relate to their communities.
Our Local Code was originally adopted by the Council on 25 January 2005. It identifies the principles of good Corporate Governance and sets out how those principles are reflected in different parts of the Council’s business. The Local Code will be reviewed on an annual basis by the Corporate Management Board (CMB) and by Councillors.
The Local Code of Corporate Governance (PDF 2.74MB) was approved by the Executive on 13 March 2008.
