Wiltshire & Swindon Records office
Over the years local people and organisations in Wiltshire and Swindon have left huge quantities of written records in the course of their daily lives. These records hold the memory of the people of Wiltshire and Swindon and they can be used to study the past, to answer questions about the present, and to plan for the future.
The Record Office exists to preserve these records and to help people make use of them. It holds documents dating from all periods between the twelfth century and the present day.
Once a month an archivist attends at the Swindon Service Point in the Swindon Central Library to help enquirers. Microfiche copies of parish registers and lists of other major Swindon collections may be seen there during normal opening hours in the Archive Room. In order to arrange access to this resource please contact Swindon Central Library on (01793) 463238 or email
central.library@swindon.gov.uk.
