Development Control - Committee Meetings
It is sometimes necessary for planning applications to go before the Development Control Committee for a decision. This could be because any of the following apply to the application:
- The application is considered to be a departure from the Development Plan.
- A minimum of two District Councillors (including one Ward Member where the application is sited) have requested the application be considered by the Development Control Committee.
- Any application where the intended decision is to approve and where there are five or more letters of objection (excluding members of the same household)
The authorised Planning Officer considered the decision should be taken by the Development Control Committee.
Development Control Committee Meetings are held approximately every 3 weeks at the Council Offices, Monkton Park, Chippenham. The meetings start at 6pm. The meeting gives an opportunity for members of the public to attend and express their views on planning applications on the agenda. The agenda is published 5 working days prior to the Committee meeting.
Anyone wishing to speak at a meeting will need to register before by either calling the Committee Administrator on 01249 706611 or arriving by 5.45pm on the evening of the meeting. If you are speaking on an application please remember you will have a maximum of 2 minutes to address the Committee. There is an allowance of 6 minutes per application.
