Upcoming Business

Due to its declining role, North Wiltshire District Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee has agreed to hold just one more meeting before the creation of the new Wiltshire Council.  This will take place on 15 January 2009 at 7pm.

It was felt that there was a limited amount of useful business left for the Committee to do when services were being prepared for transfer over to the new Wiltshire Unitary Authority.

The main business of checking that the public still receive quality and timely services in this transition period will increasingly become the responsibility of the Joint Overview and Scrutiny Board based at Wiltshire County Council, this includes Councillors representing all the Districts.

The chairman of North Wiltshire District Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Cllr Christine Reid says, “This is a pragmatic response to the practical reality of transferring services across to the Wiltshire Authority in an orderly way, but does not prevent us from taking action if we feel that services to the public during the transfer period are suffering and in need of our attention".
