How Do I Get On The Electoral Roll?
There are two ways to get on the electoral roll. For many years, a form has been sent to every residential property in the District asking for details of anybody living there on the qualifying date (now 15 October). Legally the Electoral Registration Officer has to obtain this information every year, and the householder has to supply it. That information is then used to compile the Register of Electors.
Secondly, the law was changed a few years ago to allow people to register as soon as they moved in to a new address. Previously you had to wait for the next October to come round, but now you can register as soon as you move in.
