I will be away on polling day. What can I do?
Provided that you apply to the council before the statutory deadlines contained in the election timetable, you can either:
Arrange to have your ballot paper sent by post to an address of your choosing.
You can arrange for somebody to vote on your behalf.
Please note that it is possible to make these arrangements for just one election (eg if you would normally prefer to vote in person, but will be away on the next election date), or alternatively you can set up a permanent arrangement. There are a number of restrictions on permanent proxy appointments, and these are set out on the forms.
