Equality Impact Assessments

The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 requires the Council to carry out Equality Impact Assessments (EIA) on current and proposed policies and publish the results. The Equality Standard for Local Government extends this requirement to include all services and procedures across the 6 areas of Equality and Diversity.

EIAs are completed in respect of ALL Council’s current or proposed policies, strategies, procedures and services. The purpose of an EIA is to improve the work of the Council by making sure it does not discriminate and that, where possible, promotes equality.
