Design and Access Statements

Design and Access (D&A) Statements are now required to accompany many applications for planning permission.

This requirement was strengthened by a special provision of the 2004 Planning Act which takes effect from 10th August 2006 and which makes combined Design and Access Statements mandatory.

All applications for planning permission, listed building and advertisement consent will be expected to be accompanied by a statement setting out the design principles that have been employed.

Design and Access Statements are important in assessing development proposals, and NWDC cannot accept relevant applications without them -  they will not be registered but will be returned.
