You Said: "There is lots of Dog Fouling and Litter in Chippenham. Dog bins are put up but no effort is made to confront the people concerned and the fouling is still happening. Your response times and politeness could not be faulted, but your effectiveness is zero in regard to these problems."
Re. a complaint about a dog owner allowing his dog to foul public paths and parks - I gave details of times and places where fouling regularly took place but noone bothered to observe the situation.
We Did: "We only have one Dog Warden and 2 Animal Control Officers to cover the whole of North Wiltshire and we have lots of cases to deal with. We have therefore arranged for other officers to enforce Dog Fouling laws. By June 2007, all field officers in Environmental Health will have undergone training in the issuing of fixed penalty notices for dog fouling. It is hoped that a greater number of officers able to serve such notices will result in more effective enforcement of this legislation."
You Said: "Have more literature and simple booklets in different languages".
We Did: Make sure all staff were aware that we have literature in numerous languages and reminded staff to make businesses aware of this.
You Said: "Reduce pest control costs for OAPS".
We Did: As of April 2007, we charge £41.00 to deal with rats and mice. For OAPs and those in receipt of means-tested benefits the cost is £16.00.
You Said: Your Officer carried out noise surveys which claimed not to register sound clearly heard by residents. Train your staff or get more responsive equipment.
We Did: The EH Team has recently purchased 2 new complainant operated annoyance recorders.
You Said: "The service was great and the Officer was very friendly and a pleasure to have on site"
You Said: "It would help if we could contact someone at the weekend and get help".
We Did: If we are unable to obtain evidence during the working week, we can make arrangements for our out of hours emergency service to contact the Officer on standby.
