Scores on the Doors

The scoring criteria for Scores on Doors is the sum of the scores for the following three elements:

Criteria Description
Food hygiene and safety How hygienically the food is handled, the cleanliness of the premises (0 to 25 points)
Structure Condition of the food rooms - structure, repair, lighting, ventilation, pest proofing (0 to 25 points)
Confidence in Management Evidence of a food safety management system, whether there is a good history of complying with food law and acting on previous advice and the general attitude of the management (0 to 30 points)

Please note that scoring is calculated in increments of 5 points

5 Star Rating

0-5 points

Excellent hygiene conditions found. High standard of compliance with food legislation.

4 Star Rating

10-15 points

Very good.

3 Star Rating

20 to 25 points

Good.

2 Star Rating

30 to 35 points

Satisfactory.

1 Star Rating

40 to 45 points

Fair hygiene conditions found.  Some non-compliance with food legislation, some confidence in management. More effort required to prevent fall in standards.
No stars

More than 50 points

Poor hygiene conditions found.  Some major non-compliance with food legislation follow up action is likely.
