What does the Local Plan have to do with my planning application?
If you are making a planning application, the Council's Development Control planners will use the local plan to judge your application against. Applications have to be in line with the Development Plan unless there are very good reasons why they should not be. The plan's policies cover a wide range of subjects, from large new housing or industrial sites, through to house extensions and policies protecting the countryside. So if you want to know what policies apply to you, whether your house lies within a Green Belt or whether the field next door has been allocated for a new industrial estate, have a look at the local plan.
