Open Space Calculator

The calculator is an Excel spreadsheet which simplifies the process of calculating a financial contribution in lieu of on-site public open space.  The only variable is the number of units, and this is the data that needs to be entered.  The spreadsheet is updated an a quarterly basis to reflect any change to the average property price figures given by the Land Registry, and so it should not be downloaded and used repeatedly as this will give rise to errors.  Some points to remember:
  • It is the net increase if bed space that is used to calculate the contribution.  Therefore, if a single 2 bed dwelling is to be demolished and replaced with 4 off 2 bed dwellings, then enter 3 off 2 bed dwellings into the calculator.  For situations where there is more of a mix the easiest way is to enter the existing and new situations separately and subtract the two figures.
  • Whilst the calculator will give an indicative figure the actual amount for a given scheme should be confirmed with the Council.
If you require any assistance with the level of contribution then please contact Michael Hasted on 01249 706489.
