Our Service Standards

North Wiltshire District Council is responsible for arranging the collection & disposal of household waste in the District. The Council's Cleansing & Amenities Service provides this service for the residents of North Wiltshire.

Listed below are the standards that you can expect from the Council's household refuse collection service.
  • All our refuse workers will be helpful & courteous at all times.
  • We will collect household waste from all properties in the District on a weekly basis. If, because of breakdown the bin is not collected on the due day, it will be collected on the following day.
  • We will provide each household in the District with a wheeled bin, or where this is not practical, black refuse sacks for the storage of household waste.
  • We will collect your rubbish on the same day each week - or advise you at least one week in advance oif any changes to the regular collection day.
  • We will take away all household rubbish that is placed on the kerbside in front of your property - providing that it is in the logo marked wheeled bin or a maximum of three black refuse sacks with the North Wilts label attached supplied by the Council.
  • All rubbish should be presented for collection by 7.00am.
  • We will not collect your waste before 7.00am.
  • After emptying, we will ensure that wheeled bins are returned to their collection point with their lids closed.
  • All spillage or loose waste caused by the actions of our refuse workers will be immediately cleared.
  • We will publish through the media and the Council website, should the service be severely disrupted by unforseen circumstances such as poor weather conditions.
  • We will provide upon request, assisted collections for those who qualify for them
