Kerbside recycling

Kerbside recycling in North Wiltshire is operated in conjunction with the Wiltshire Waste Partnership and Wiltshire County Council’s disposal and recycling contractor – Hills Waste.

The Black Box Scheme is for the collection of 5 materials:
  • Paper
  • Glass
  • Cans
  • Textiles
  • Foil
What to put in your kerbside box:
  • newspaper, magazines, catalogues, junk mail, white printer paper
  • glass bottles and jars
  • all food and drinks cans
  • textiles, clothes, pairs of shoes, leather belts/handbags, blankets
  • clean aluminium foil eg. yoghurt tops, take away food containers
What NOT to put in your kerbside box:
  • plastic bottles
  • cardboard, envelopes, Yellow Pages, shredded paper.
  • flat or broken glass
  • duvets, pillows
  • shiny metallic plastic eg crisp peanut packets & sweet wrappers.
Put paper upright in the box along with glass bottles, cans and foil

Please wash out cans and foil thoroughly, if they are dirty they will not be taken

Please remove bottle and jar lids, metal  lids can be added with your cans and tins.

Put dry textiles in a seperate knotted carrier bag in, or alongside, the box but please do not put them out on wet days.

Reuse carrier bags rather than a black sack which could be confused with rubbish.

Do not tie bags other than those containing textiles.

Any materials not shown in the yes list  cannot be collected.

If your box is too full put paper in a separate open carrier bag next to your box

Unfortunately we are currently unable to offer this service to some of the more rural and remote parts of the district. We are working closely with Hills Waste to increase the coverage where possible.
