Frequently Asked Questions regarding an Abandoned Vehicle

1. What if the vehicle is taxed and I don't know the owner?
This vehicle is not technically abandoned, therefore the Council have no responsibility to remove the vehicle.

2. What if the vehicle is untaxed and I don't know the owner?

This vehicle maybe classed as abandoned and can be reported using our online abandoned vehicle report form.

3. What if the vehicle is untaxed and I know the owner lives locally?

If the owner lives locally then it cannot be classed as abandoned, however as the vehicle is untaxed it must be reported to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.

4. What if the vehicle has just been left on the street for weeks, it is taxed and I know the owner.
