Council Tax Appeals

Appeals - To the Listing Officer

This Officer deals with the appeals against the valuation bands.

You are entitled to appeal against the band if:
  • you believe that the banding should be changed because you have added to the property or demolished part of it.
  • you start or stop using part of it to carry out a business, or the balance between domestic and business use changes.
  • you become the taxpayer for the first time. (Your appeal must be made within 6 months)
If you have made an appeal against your banding which has not yet been settled you are not entitled to withhold payment of the Tax owing in the meantime. If your appeal is successful, any overpayment will be credited to your account and, if necessary, refunded.
