Faced with Homlessness

If you will be likely to be homeless soon

If you know that you are likely to be without somewhere to live soon because:
  • you have been asked to leave by family or friends
  • are likely to be evicted by your landlord
  • are likely to lose your house because of mortgage arrears
  • any other reason
You should contact the Council on 01249 706111 (Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 5.15pm and Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm) and request to speak to a Homelessness Officer to explain your case. If necessary they will arrange an appointment for you.

The Homeless Team will assess your case under the 1996 Housing Act and the Homelessness Act 2002. These government acts explain who will be provided with temporary/ emergency accommodation and who are to be given assistance in terms of advice and support.

It is important to note that the Homelessness Team only deal with peoples temporary/ emergency accommodation (i.e. B&B or hostel style accommodation). Regarding your long-term housing needs, it is advisable to place your name on the Housing Register run by Westlea Housing Association on behalf of North Wiltshire District Council. The telephone number for their Lettings department is 01249 466180.
