Clubs

Clubs are the heart of sport. North Wiltshire District Council views the ongoing development of local clubs as an essential requirement for the successful growth of sport throughout the district. Whether it be developing facilities, developing youth sections and academies or assisting in funding applications NWDC Sport Development team is actively involved in local club development.

Newsflash!

Wiltshire Funding Conference

Various speakers from NGBs, Sport England, and Wiltshire County Council will be on hand to deliver a series of presentations about sourcing, accessing and receiving funding from a wide array of funders. If you are considering applying for funding or have a specific project in mind this will be of particular interest as you will get first hand evidence from the experts about funding pitfalls, what the funder wants and how to get funding for your project.

There will also be a chance to examine top tips on how to write a successful application (including case studies, and examples of successful applications)

The agenda is currently being formed and will be available here soon.

Club Accreditation

North Wiltshire District Council has joined forces with Kennet District Council, West Wilts District Council and Swindon Borough Council to offer you the unique opportunity of undertaking a Club Accreditation/Development Training and Support Package over the coming months.

Sports Clubs provide opportunities for millions of people to take part in sports as performers, coaches, officials, and administrators, working both as volunteers and as professionals.  Clubs play a key role in developing young performers though age group structures to international standard.  With such roles come responsibilities and the need to ensure that clubs are providing high quality, safe and enjoyable experiences for their members.

Many National Governing Body's have already implemented their own Club Development/Accreditation Manuals/Schemes and the Sport England Clubmark provides a generic resource for sports clubs that do not have a National Governing Body Award Scheme.  The Wiltshire and Swindon Activity and Sports Partnership (WASP) has taken the requirements of Clubmark and NGB Accreditation Schemes to produce a simple 3 step programme taking clubs through Foundation Level, Clubmark Criteria and additional NGB Criteria.    Clubs following the Wiltshire Scheme will be able to enter at a Level suitable to each club and if they meet the relevant criteria, will gain their Clubmark and/or their NGB Accreditation.

However, what's missing with these schemes, is the training and support that allows club members to gain a better understanding of why each element of the club development process is important and a greater knowledge to produce working documents that are relevant to their club. The benefit of this programme lies in 4 workshops that are provided for you as opportunities to understand better what is required of you as clubs in order to achieve accreditation, and discounts on coach education workshops that will be required of members of your club in order for you to pass certain criteria.

It is hoped that one person at your club can oversee the responsibility of club development but it does not have to be the same person that attends all workshops and we would encourage you to try and ensure that more people share the responsibility.

For more information on this programme please view the attached file:

If you would like your club to take advantage of this opportunity then please get in touch with Alex Muse, Sports Development Officer, on 01249 706452 as soon as possible - there are only 5 places available so this will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

Implementation of Club Development within NWDC

NWDC Sports Development are working in partnership with all National Governing Bodies (NGB’s), Sport England and local sports clubs in developing a level of excellence within the delivery and management of the local clubs. Club Development has been identified as a key priority for the Wiltshire and Swindon Activity and Sports Partnership (WASP).
