North Wiltshire District Council employ a Sports Development Officer (SDO) to ensure that the pathways and structures to achieve the development of sport within the district are in place. These are reached in several ways. There are many national initiatives that NWDC work alongside including Sport England’s Active Sports Programme and National Governing Body development initiatives to provide a local activity programme, and sports coach UK to provide coach education and training.

The vision for sport in North Wiltshire is to enable people to have the best opportunity to start, stay and succeed in sport and physical activity. By working in partnership with a range of partners in public, private and voluntary sectors, sports opportunities for everyone can be improved. By protecting and maintaining existing sporting facilities and making them more accessible the social and economic welfare of the district will be enhanced.
