School Sport

Our aim is to create opportunities for all young people to receive a quality introduction to physical education (PE) and sport and structured pathways for them to continue participating and progressing within sport

We believe that all young people have the right to:
  • A quality introduction to Physical Education and Sport suited to their own level of ability and development.
  • The best teaching, the best coaching and the best resources.
  • Progress along a structured pathway of sporting opportunities in order to fulfil their sporting potential.
  • Experience and benefit from positive competition & schools festivals.

Schools Festivals

The provision of sports festivals across the district is a key strategy within North Wiltshire. Whilst offering the opportunity for children to play against other children of similar ability from different schools and enabling boys and girls to play together, they also act as competitive events for children and teachers to work towards. However the emphasis of the festivals is on participation and enjoyment encouraging children to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles.

As well as providing opportunity for schools to enter teams in a variety of different sports, the festivals also give sports clubs the chance to get involved in their local area by hosting a festival, providing officials for the event or holding coaching sessions at the schools prior to the event. Such relationships encourage the development of stronger pathways between the club and local schools.
