Street Cleaning Programme
Streets are cleaned in line with the current Environmental Protection Act 2005 – Litter Code of Practice.
North Wiltshire District Council undertakes regular scheduled street cleaning of roads and footpaths with the Town Centres and villages within the area. The frequency of street cleaning varies from area to area and street to street according to the speed at which dirt is accumulated. This is affected by traffic, pedestrians, schools, fast-food outlets, trees and so on. In order to provide an efficient service, it is important to take all these factors into consideration and adjust cleaning frequencies. We undertake cleansing duties using mechanical and hand sweeping techniques as well as litter picking.
